Times Square New Years Eve Celebration
Times Square in New York City hosts the largest and most iconic annual New Year's Eve celebration in the world. Roads are closed by 3pm so be sure to get this event early as it's free but first come first serve. Hundreds of thousands pack into the streets in Times Square to watch the ball drop, the confetti fall, the fireworks set off and enjoy many live concerts throughout the night. Dress warmly for the occasion.
NYE Fireworks in Prospect Park
The Grand Army Plaza at Prospect Park in Brookyln hosts a large annual fireworks display and includes live music. A popular alternative to Times Square for New Years Eve partying, this event is free to all and is first come first serve with RSVP available. Dress warmly and show up early for a good spot in the park, as tens of thousands typically come.
New York Road Runners Midnight Run
As the clock strike midnight, this 4 mile run starting in Central Park gets underway. Fireworks can be seen for both the runners and their invited guests as the event begins. Dress warmly as a guest or in warm running attire as a registered runner. Two hours before the run starts, there is also a pre-run party.
NYE on the Brooklyn Bridge
The one mile long Brooklyn Bridge is completely open to the public on New Year's Eve and provides a great view of the New York City skyline and fireworks show from the New York harbor. The Staten Island fireworks show can also be seen from the bridge at a distance. Drinking is prohibited on the bridge and it is recommended to dress very warmly as temperatures can get quite low. There is no cost but be sure to get there early as it's first come first serve for the best views.
AMC 42nd Street Times Square New Years Eve
The AMC Empire Theatre in Times Square offers up 6 floors of entertainment for it's guests in this annual New Years Eve celebration. The first 2 floors are for showing films throughout the night, while floor 3 is the 'Family Entertainment' area. Floors 4 and 5 are the 'Open Bar Gala' and floor 6 is the VIP 'Top of the World' area, offering the best view of the Times Square ball drop and fireworks display. The open bar and mini buffet come included with tickets for floors 4,5 and 6. Food and drinks can otherwise be purchased.
